Shirley Corriher, a biochemist who played the mad food scientist on Alton Brown’s show Good Eats, will be in Columbia the weekend of March 16-18 for the Life Sciences and Society Symposium “Food Sense.”
The HCRC is honored to host Corriher during her stay and has set up a special event in the Fred W. Smith Forum in the MU School of Journalism from 1:30 – 2:30 on March 16. Corriher, best-selling author of CookWise: The Hows and Whys of Successful Cooking and BakeWise: The Hows and Whys of Successful Baking, will team up with food critic Todd Kliman for presentation and Q&A that is open to MU students, faculty and staff. This event is sponsored by the Smith/Patterson Lecture Series.
Corriher will be kept quite busy throughout the weekend as she gives a solo presentation “The Secret Life of Food” on March 17 from 10:30 – 11:30 in Conservation Hall in the Anheuser-Busch Natural Resources Building (ABNR). Later that same day in ABNR, she will be part of a panel with Paul Breslin, and William Ian Miller, plus Daniel Pliska (Executive Chef, MU University Club).
