Starting this fall semester, Health Communication Research Center Director Jon Stemmle will join the Missouri School of Journalism full time as an assistant professor in Strategic Communication. Stemmle will teach classes primarily in public relations, as well as social media and health communications.
Along with his teaching load, Stemmle will continue to serve as the director of the Health Communications Research Center (HCRC), but will be joined in those duties as director by fellow Strategic Communication Professor Glen Cameron.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to take the sorts of things we do every day in the HCRC and bring that real world experience to the classroom,” Stemmle said. “We’re thrilled to have Glen co-direct the Center and handle several new projects.”
With his expertise in health communication, Stemmle has been invited to speak to different local, state and national health organizations. He has co-authored several articles that have appeared in journals such as the Journal of Health Communication, Journal of Management and Marketing in Healthcare and the Journal of Interactive Advertising.
He earned a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Arizona and bachelor’s degrees in both history and communications from Virginia Wesleyan College.
